LXI Consortium Joined by Geotest-Marvin Test Systems

SAN DIEGO, CA, March 20, 2006

The LXI Consortium today announced that Geotest-Marvin Test Systems has joined the standards organization as an advisory member. LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation) is a next-generation, LAN-based modular platform for automated test systems. As a leading global supplier of PXI- and PC-based test products, systems, and solutions, Geotest expands the growing number of test and measurement companies supporting and promoting the LXI standard.

“We are excited about the opportunity to join the LXI Consortium and work with other industry leaders to advance the standard,” said Loofie Gutterman, president of Geotest. “With customers in aerospace, semiconductor, telecom, medical, industrial, and military applications, we are always looking for new ways to meet their evolving needs for fast, accurate, and cost-effective measurement solutions. We expect that LXI will provide new instrument and system flexibility to help us address our customers’ current and future test needs.”

LXI combines the built-in measurement science and PC standard I/O of rack-and-stack instruments with the modularity and size-effectiveness of card cage-based systems. With LXI, engineers can leverage their existing software, measurements, and accuracy into new LXI-based systems. The LXI standard provides a basis for long-lived implementations that are not limited by bandwidth, software, or computer-dependent architectures.
